The inspiration for the label BLACK WIDOW comes from the overriding of the major planted variety named Mavro, from two rare Red (black) female varieties that pre-existed in old vineyards. These varieties were Blended with the variety Mavro to give body and color. Maratheftiko and Giannoudi are now reviving, propagated, planted in new established vineyards as main varieties. They give wines with complexity and great potential for aging.
The wine aged in new 300l oak barrels for 12 months. The blend gives a wine with deep ruby color. Intense aromas of plums, red fruit and sour cherry. Aromas of wild herbs, mint, tea leaves, and fresh tobacco dominate. Round rich and charming mouth, with full structure and body. The blend gives a wine with great aging potential.
Served at 16-18 ᵒC while accompanying red meats, game dishes and spicy cheeses harmoniously.
